Komorebi
The Japanese term for sunlight filtering through tree leaves, specifically refers to the visible light rays. Its composition stems from different elements: 'Ko' denotes trees, 'More' signifies something shining or seeping through, and 'Bi' represents the sun or sunlight.
It embodies the experience of walking through a forest in the morning as the day awakens or during the afternoon when the sun sets, and its rays permeate the trees.
The term 'Komorebi' encapsulates the Japanese people's romantic and emotional affection for nature.
Vagabond (manga)
Vagabond is an enthralling manga that was introduced to me by a dear friend of mine, João Castro Ferreira. It follows the fictionalized journey of legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, based on Eiji Yoshikawa's novel. This epic tale delves deep into Musashi's relentless pursuit of mastery in swordsmanship, exploring themes of self-discovery, inner turmoil, and the timeless quest for purpose amidst the chaotic world of feudal Japan, all depicted through breathtaking artwork and intense action sequences.

Dreaming as a safeguard of the visual cortex
Research has revealed that different regions of the brain maintain their specific functions through continuous activity. If this activity slows down or stops, neighboring regions tend to take over. Surprisingly, this takeover process can occur within an hour. These discoveries have led to a new hypothesis about the purpose of REM sleep. It is proposed that REM sleep plays a role in boosting the activity of the visual system periodically during the night. This helps to protect the visual system's territory from being dominated by other senses. The study also found a positive correlation between the amount of REM sleep and measures of plasticity in 25 primate species. Additionally, both plasticity and REM sleep increase in tandem with evolutionary proximity to humans. Finally, this hypothesis aligns with the observed decrease in REM sleep and neuroplasticity as individuals age.
Global EV Adoption

Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) sales surpassed 10% of global light vehicle sales in Q1 2023, breaking the seasonal trend of lower Q1 adoption. Tesla, BYD, VW, and GAC Motor drove 75% of the year-to-date BEV sales growth, despite accounting for only 48% of total sales. Around 40% of automakers reported declining BEV sales, indicating macroeconomic impacts on winners and losers.
