📑 Good conversations have lots of doorknobs
An interesting blog post about he clash of “take-and-take” vs. “give-and-take” debate in conversation, where givers think conversations unfold as a series of invitations, and takers think conversations unfold as a series of declarations. Adam suggests that “it’s easy to assume givers are virtuous and takers are villainous”, but conversations start to sink if they sit still, and takers can paddle for both sides. The blog post also introduces interesting research questions by Adam himself during his graduate school years.

The one sec app is an app that forces you to take a deep breath whenever you open social media apps. Friction removes instant gratification and makes distracting apps less appealing, removing the muscle-memory out of our reptilian brains.

🚀🫶 Fafe É Nosso
The “Fafe é Nosso” Festival, organized by a group of young students, held its inaugural event in April 2022. The festival’s origin can be traced back to Emília Pinho, a friend of mine who has roots in Várzea Cova. She urged her colleagues to visit her grandparents’ village, and the idea to promote a music festival with intergenerational connections in her beloved hometown was born. Last Saturday marked the first meeting of the festival’s team, which has already begun preparations for the second edition. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting event, and be sure to follow the Instagram account.
